Chip Production

Bass, bronze, wood, steal, and hardware

2015-2016

Two brass rods, 12’ in length and 1 ¼” diameter once existed in a solid state. Now their existence has been displaced, transformed and altered within a practice of production.

The relationship between manual labor and manufactured product creates an interdependency that has been put in place by consumerism. A romanticized observation of the factory worker is portrayed through the casting of the work gloves. Creating a direct focus on the material of brass and bronze alludes to the utilitarian vernacular of industry, and the seduction of its alloy properties. The entirety of this installation relates to topics surrounding blue collar labour, manufacturing, craft and product.
