I am a multidisciplinary visual artist who creates installations based in the realms of domestic, private and industrial, public. These two environments of order bring not only comfort and sustainability, but a sense of control. My work examines the different materials and processes that are associated with either realm. I negotiate domesticity through furnishings as the common denominators of our personal environment. Altering them is a way of questioning the attitudes, fears and unwritten rules which have formed that environment and our behavior within it. In terms of the Industrial, I focus in on the labouring body within the manufacturing sector. Through sculptural and design principals, and integration of traditional manual/skill based forming processes, foundry casting, and digital fabrication techniques. My installations continue to explore the social and cultural dynamics of economic change within the communities tied to the rust belt region in North America.
